Someday...

Someday my life will get back to "normal"...

Someday I won't get woken up continuously throughout the night or at some ungodly hour of "O-dark-thirty...

Someday I will be able to finish something I started without it a million interruptions...

Someday my house will stay neat and tidy, the way I left it...

Someday I will have the freedom to do what I want, when I want...

Someday I will put my needs first again...

Someday my babies won't be babies anymore and then that will be what  I am sad about....

Just for you Reva...

I deleted my blog a few weeks ago as I had not updated it since December....but I kinda sorta missed it....sorta, not really...but after a sad message from my dear Reva I decided to re-load it and do some blogging!  Thanks Reva!  :)

I was away for my annual road trip to Kitchener with some of my friends this weekend to attend "Scrapfest".           What a trip! From start to finish this was a trip that needed all my patience and adaptability skills to survive this weekend.  But I won't dwell on the negative and will say I had a BLAST nonetheless!

To start with the sign up was a disaster!  But I got it conquered and everyone got the tickets for the classes and crop they wanted!!!  Next came the logistics of transportation.....oh boy....not touching that with a ten foot pole!!!  lol

The last hurdle was the FREAKING ICE STORM LAST WEEK!  This seriously impacted our travel plans.  But we made it safe and sound and I got an extra night away!!  :)  One of my best buddies was unable to join us because of this and I am still very sad about that.  Who would have thought travelling in April would have been so tricky!!  And I had a huge car problem develop on the way home which cost me and additional $970 Monday to fix!!  Oh well, them's the BRAKES!  literally!!  lol lol

I had a set plan of things to get made and I managed to complete them all.

The first was a She-Art girl for me to hang on the wall of my art room.  I made a very similar one last year but ended up donating it for a silent auction for the "Bust A Move" crop to raise money for cancer research.  A couple of my friends were participating in this event and my canvas raised just over $70 towards their entry fee. I decided to scraplift myself and re-create this canvas because I really and truly loved it and hated to see it gone even if it was for a great cause.

The next piece of art on my list was a gift for my niece.  Her name is Ella, but everyone calls her "Birdy" or "Ellabird".  I saw a piece on Pinterest and thought it was so darned cute so I made one for her for her new room colours, out with pink and in with the BLUES!  She loves blues just like me!!!  Yay!! I seriously want to keep this for myself.....so stinkin' cute!!  I will be making one for me for sure!!!

For you Birdy.....  :)
And the last piece I did was from a tutorial I saw on the  Faber-Castel Blog using Gelatos, "Reflection".  I have a ton of these creamy smooth gelatos and haven't used them much but I WILL NOW!  Wow!  They are fun and have so much rich colour and consistency!!

I think I will add to this a little more and see if I can't make some more yummy blue appear.

So really, the three pieces I worked on this weekend were all lifts of some kind but I loved them all so much I just had too!!!  And I am such a distracted girl at these events I wanted to have some fun projects but not a lot of thinking involved.  I am far too busy socializing and running about checking everything out!!!

Hopefully I will be back to creating so I will have some stuff to post....ya never know.....

Thanks for looking!!

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming!!!

I have been busy crafting and creating gifts for some of my family for Christmas this year.  I keep hearing how they don't have any of my canvas pieces but I just laugh because I don't have a lot myself!!  I tend to give it all away!!!  lol

I have made a couple of Christy Tomlinson mixed media Christmas Tree canvases, this is last years version but they look pretty similar to this....

a new take on a Christmas tree canvas that I have made for a gift for a family member

I am also loving the inspiration on Pinterest and a friend of mine, Nicole, keeps finding all kinds of lovely things to pin so she is doing all the work for me! These little angels are something Nicole pinned that I knew I had to re-create!

I have began a fun little canvas for my boys for the holidays but it's a work in progress so I just have a little sneak.....

I am hoping to get my December album foundation pages created this week.  I am refusing to call it a December Daily....been there done that, WON'T BE DOING THAT AGAIN!!!!  LOL  It was just not organic enough for me....way too planned....lots of pressure to take a picture and have done something FABULOUS every stinkin' day!  So this year with my new handy dandy Polaroid Digital Instant Camera I will be making a Christmas mini, BUT ON MY TERMS!!!  ;)  lol

Happy Holidays are on their way!!

Stay tuned as Roger, our house elf, will soon be making his appearance!  My boys are eagerly waiting his arrival!

Kaisercraft & Teresa Collins "Christmas Cottage" Advent Calendar 2.0 class at the Scrapbox!

This class has been in the works since December of last year.  After creating a one of a kind demo of the Kaisercraft Advent calendar for the Scrapbox I received some requests to teach a class for 2012.  We had to wait for this year's seasonal products to be available and I chose to work with the beautiful "Christmas Cottage" collection from Teresa Collins.  Such a beautiful mix of traditional colours with a lovely variety of patterns.

This class is unique in that it will start with painting and assembling the wooden frame and chipboard boxes on Friday, Oct 12th. Altering and decorating the Calendar will be done on Sat Oct 13th, starting at 10:30am until 4:30 pm.
If you want to take this class but are not able to make the Friday "prep" evening, you have the option of receiving the kit ahead of time, along with instructions and a bottle of cream paint to prep at your leisure before hand. Please call the store at 613-745-2215 for more details on how we can make it easier for you to take this class!

I created this "Merry Christmas" banner using the Silhouette Cameo and pieced it together to add some great dimension to the project.  The pieces will all be pre-cut for you to assemble.

The deers, and paper trees and green scroll border were all done with the Cameo as well.  The wooden tree will be altered using Glimmer Glams, inks, stamps and stickles.

Come join us if you can!  It's going to be a fun class and an heirloom to keep and re-use year after year!

i've been a bad blogger but a great mom!

Well it seem that scrapping and craftiness went by the wayside for the majority of the summer!  And that was because me and my boys were having too much F.U.N!!!!

I have been busy working on some upcoming classes for the Scrapbox that I will be posting shortly!  Getting you all ready for the Christmas season!!

In the meanwhile, I was very productive for the monthly sketch at the Scrapbox.  I was competing hard, I could taste the victory that was awaiting me....and thankfully, after all my FB braggin my name was somehow pulled!!!  lol  Yes!!

Here are the layouts I completed!!

This one "Cracks" me up!  Jason was feeling very sleepy so he showed me the cracks in his eyes!!!  lol

My BFF recently moved to Chile for work and before she left her parents held a goodbye party at the Lonestar Ranch!!  The boys had such a blast!!  I had been hoarding some October Afternoon "Sasparilla" collection and it was perfect to document this event!

My good buddy Sharon a.k.a Sha-Nasty was having a rockin' good time at the B.A.M. crop in May!!  I love the Amy Tangerine "Sketchbook" line!!  So perfect for documenting crops and crafty classes!!

Last day of school for the boys.  We were all very excited to play all summer!!

My friend Mell made me this tin foil hat for my birthday.  It is a prop from the movie "Signs" intended to ward off the aliens from attacking you!!  I made everyone at my birthday soiree wear it and then the kids of course had to try it out the next day.  Andrew was not thrilled as you can see, he is getting to the age when mom is embarassing sometimes!!!

Enjoying the pool, an almost daily activity!!  What a gloriouly hot summer!

Jason thoroughly enjoyed the SKOR trifle I made for Father's Day!!

A little bit of Faith, Hope & Love.....

Come join me next Friday, July 13 at 6pm at the Scrapbox or Saturday, August 11 from 9-1pm for my new 6x6 mixed media canvas trio class.

These canvases were created with a neutral colour scheme to suit anyone's home decor.  They would make a fantastic wedding or bridal shower present or housewarming gift as well!

They are customizable in that the words can be your choice (different stamp size may need to be used to accommodate for longer wording), whatever suits the type of project you want it to be.  You could use your family member's names, and also add sepia toned pictures to personalize the project!

Some of the techniques in this class will be colour washing, distressing, use of stencils and light modeling paste, inking and stamping.

I hope you are able to join me!  I made these as a gift for my cousin for her wedding this summer....I know she will love them as she is an amazingly crafty artist herself!  She won't get them on time of course because her wedding is the same day as my August class but I am hoping to add some wedding pictures to the canvases anyway so I need to wait to give them to her!  lol

Cost : $46/$40 for  Scrapbox Studio members
